Cheese Ball Bites

One of our favorite things about this cheese ball bites recipe is that you can customize it to fit you and your guests' tastes. You can use toothpicks for sticks or swap them out for fun edible sticks (like we do here). Great for parties and holidays, you'll want to add this recipe to your list!

Yields ~36 cheese ball bites.

Ingredients

8 oz cream cheese, softened

 

2 cups sharp cheddar cheese, shredded

 

⅓ cup Sunsweet® Amaz!n™ Prunes, finely chopped 

 

⅓ cup Sunsweet® Pitted Dates, finely chopped 

 

~2 cups toppings of choice (see below)

 

~36 skewer garnishes of choice (see below)

 

Topping Ideas

chopped nuts (pecans, walnuts)

toasted sesame seeds

poppy seeds

sunflower seeds 

paprika 

fresh herbs, minced (parsley, rosemary)

crushed potato chips

pomegranate arils

 

Skewer Garnish Ideas

pretzel sticks

rolled tortilla chips

bagel chips or rye chips (halved, if needed)

Directions

In a large bowl, combine softened cream cheese, shredded cheese, and dried fruit. Mix well to combine.

 

Use a cookie scoop or tablespoon to portion and form into balls with your hands. 

 

Roll cheese balls in desired toppings to coat. (You can keep different toppings separate, or you can mix all of them together before rolling.)

 

Transfer finished cheese balls to a platter or storage container. Chill in the fridge for at least 3 hours or up to overnight.

 

To serve, skewer each cheeseball with a pretzel stick, rolled tortilla chip, or any crunchy garnish you like!
